El Ministerio Público no precisó las circunstancias en que se produjeron las muertes, pero el diputado opositor por Barquisimeto Alfonso Marquina denunció el viernes que fueron producto de ataques de pistoleros.

Los fallecidos tenían edades que oscilan entre lo 20 y 49 años, según la Fiscalía, que precisó que los decesos ocurrieron en distintos lugares de esa ciudad ubicada a 350 km al oeste de Caracas.

Las manifestaciones contra el presidente Nicolás Maduro completaron tres meses este sábado y dejan, además, un millar de heridos y unos 3.500 detenidos, de acuerdo con el Ministerio Público y la ONG Foro Penal.

Ese sábado, cerca de mil opositores marcharon nuevamente para exigir elecciones generales que pongan fin al mandato de Maduro, elegido hasta enero de 2019, y respaldar a la fiscal general, Luisa Ortega, enfrentada al gobierno tras años de línea oficialista.

Ortega asegura que al menos 23 personas han muerto a manos de militares y policías durante las manifestaciones, y ha denunciado detenciones arbitrarias y torturas de agentes de seguridad en la “represión” de las protestas.
