El plato se hizo popular por la pastelería Yamanashi en Japón, como comenta el diario El Comercio. Para su preparación se necesita agua, azúcar, polvo de agar (gelatina de origen vegetal japonesa) y moldes lisos que no dejen ninguna marca.
