Las dos explosiones en el aeropuerto internacional de Bruselas fueron provocadas por al menos un kamikaze, indicó el martes el fiscal general de Bélgica, Frederic Van Leeuw, en una conferencia de prensa junto al primer ministro belga Charles Michel, quien además pidió a la población “calma y solidaridad”, al tiempo que subrayó que “la prioridad es tratar a las víctimas”, que, según informaron el alcalde de Bruselas, Yvan Mayeur, y la ministra de Sanidad, Maggie De Block, ascienden a 34 muertos y 200 heridos.

Según informó la cadena de televisión pública francófona RTBF, el Gobierno belga ha reforzado con 300 militares las fronteras del país.

Las fuerzas de seguridad continúan la investigación en los lugares de los atentados. Según el diario La Libre, en los ataques del aeropuerto de Zaventem se utilizaron varias bombas, dos de ellas en la sala de entrada, mientras que la cadena de televisión flamenca VRT apunta a que un tercer explosivo habría sido encontrado.

Según la agencia Belga, también se habrían encontrado otras armas en el aeropuerto, y otros medios indican que un fusil de asalto kalashnikov habría sido encontrado cerca del cuerpo de uno de los posibles atacantes-suicidas.

Mientras tanto, el país está paralizado, con los centros escolares cerrados y los estudiantes confinados en ellos hasta que las autoridades permitan su salida, así como los transportes públicos de Bruselas, que están también suspendidos.
